***********************************************************
I graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and Spanish.
I was inducted into several Honor societies throughout my tenure at Fisk. Namely; Psi Chi National Honor Society for Psychology, Alpha Mu Gamma National Honor Society for modern Foreign Languages, Beta Kappa Chi National Honor Society for Sciences, and W.E.B DuBois General Honor Society. I was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society which basically means that because of my scholastic achievements and activeness on campus I was chosen to become a member and also because I graduated into the top 10% of my graduating class.
The chapter that I joined has members such has John Hope Franklin and Nikki Giovani just to name a few. I also graduated with a 3.81 GPA which warranted me the honor of graduating Summa Cum Laude which is the highest academic honor. I have been accepted into several institutions to pursue my studies in Immigration Law but I chose Case Western University School of Law in Cleveland, OH as my final destination. They have offered me $22,000 of the $35,000 for tuition which I am very grateful for as they are ranked in the top 50 in the country and boast an International Law program which is ranked 2nd in the nation.
I accomplished all these wonderful things while continuously volunteering in different ways in and around the community and also being a Spanish tutor for 3 years. I am very grateful to the Morant Bay High School Past Students’ Association for playing an integral role in my continued success and I wish to in turn give back and help another person to get where I am headed. God was first and foremost in everything I did and all the decisions I made as well as my mother who has made numerous sacrifices for me to be the young lady I am today. You all played a different part in helping to mold a future leader especially Mr. Murray who was a father figure in my life and helped to guide me in whatever way he could. I wish you all could have been there to celebrate this moment with me but I know you were there in spirit. Once again thank you and you all will be rewarded for the hard work you have done and continue to do.
Yours Sincerely,
Trudy-Ann Powell
